I bought a betta fish on Saturday and he has yet to eat anything! I bought food specified for bettas but for some reason he’s not eating. How long can a betta live without food? He won’t eat the pellets, how long should I leave them in his bowl to see if he accepts them? I think he’s just scared from switching to a new place, IDK.

About my betta fish.
His name is paul paul has like a half a gallon bowl, with one little fake flower in the middle. I just recently learned that this bowl may be too small for him. If i wanted to get a bigger tank, that i could fit other fish into, what size should i get? Are there fish i can put in there with a fighting fish? I heard that they’re pretty aggressive, but i’ve also heard that goldfish are okay in there. What kinds of fish can i get in there? Will paul try to murder them?

brandon I really like your answer, but I would appreciate hearing from someone who blievs in the spirtual world for animals also. to all you who said there is no such thing as cherubs…please read brandons answer as he quotes the bible. So mainly I just want to say that for my added detail, I believe that all living creatures have soles, so maybe forget the fish question and just tell me about cherubs and your opinin about all living creatures big or small, human, animal bug, or plant having soles. No assinines need answer. I am asking for opinions not harrasment.

My roommate has a female beta so we put them together, they didn’t fight or anything so we left them together all day

When I got home, I took the female out because she seemed depressed and i think the male ended up biting her b/c she’s usually not red on her gills like this:

I think they mated b/c there’s a weird looking sack hanging out of her

I took a picture of the bubbles b/c it kinda looks like there are eggs in it, but I’m not too sure, it could just be mucus from the bubble nest?

He stays at the top of the tank with his mouth touching the surface. He hasn’t eaten much since Friday, I even tried to mash up his food. I feed him wardley essentials pellots. He actually looks like he’s attacking the pellot, but then cant get it into his mouth. I’m afraid that he’s gonna die and that I’m a 2 week fish killer.

Does anyone know whats wrong or what I should do?!
okay, thanks!! The only thing that’s weird is that he used to be able to eat that food and since the water change, he’s pretty sad and listless.

I used a water conditioner, too, but its a good idea to check the pH levels. Thank you all for your quick responses!!
