Cool Fangs asked:

I try feeding it Hikari Betta Bio-Gold, I’ve had for a week now and so far it has ate barley any pellets, I try feeding it just one a day, because usually just sits there for an hour till it just sinks to the bottom. I don’t like this because it’s clouding up the water. Should I try another food? Please tell me what to do! (My fish is in a about 1 and a half gallon bowl)

My Betta Fish is sick, what can I do to help?

finley j asked:

My Betta Fish is usually happy and healthy, spends time all over the tank, hides, eats well, blows bubbles… However today he started spending a lot of time at the top of the tank. He now looks like he has air trapped inside him somehow and is mostly floating on his side at the surface. When he tries to swim down to the bottom, it appears to get too difficult for him and he just floats straight back up to the top. His colour also seems to have faded slightly around the gills and mouth. Can anyone help me out with a suggestion of what this might be, and what I can do to help him?

I really **** seeing my Betta fish suffer. =[ I feed him 3-4 times a week and clean his bowl every two weeks.

Thanks, I posted this question several times and I do think it may be the water or the bowl. I will most deffinetly go to a pet store. : ) I hope he lives a long life.
Thank you everyone for your answers; I think I know what to do now to help my fish. Whoever you vote for gets best answer

K W asked:

My betta fish had been doing great while I was at home for two weeks, and then I moved him to my dorm and he was still fine for a week. I changed his water Friday, left all day Saturday, and came back at the end of the day to a bowl absolutely full of pearly, milky, white web substance. Betta was puking up big brown chunks too. I cleaned the bowl (didnt know i wasnt supposed to use soap, but i had done that before–i wont from now on). He seems to be doing fine now, but does anyone know what that could’ve been from so that I don’t do it again? Other information: the back of the food canister I used said to feed 2-3 times daily (I know now that is wrong, so I’ll stop from here on out); also, the day I was gone was his “fasting day”–does that have anything to do with it? or is it simply the water? I used dorm water (which probably isn’t the best) and after I took care of him yesterday, I used drinking water in a gallon from Walmart. Any help/information is GREATLY appreciated.

Kamal A asked:

my betta fish had two holes when i first got it from pet co. but the next day they were smaller. then the 3rd day that i had it, i found two new holes. they’re in the middle of her bottom fin. (not close to the edge) and also i found a gray lump on her top fin. the water temperature is consistently 79 degrees. theeres nothing in the tank to cut her, its in a water bowl. i change the water every 3 or 4 days and change a cup of it in between. and it eats 8 pellets a day gradually during the day. it doesnt look sick or anything. its active and shows off its fins when i’m near. and it flares up when it sees its reflection and swims around the bowl aggressively. it even makes bubble nests at night. any idea what the holes couuld be coming from? there isnt anything in the tank that it could catch to. the marbles on the bottom are very smooth. and also the gray lump; is it a parasite or something? i tried taking pictures but its too hard and no details show
the fins are fine around the edge. they’re not getting smaller or frayed or anything. its holes in the center. i’ve looked everywhere and cant find any diseases like that. but i dont think the aquarium is dirty . i do water replacesments everyday and every 3rd or 4th day i change all the water
