I bought a betta fish on Saturday and he has yet to eat anything! I bought food specified for bettas but for some reason he’s not eating. How long can a betta live without food? He won’t eat the pellets, how long should I leave them in his bowl to see if he accepts them? I think he’s just scared from switching to a new place, IDK.

The pellets in he will eventually eat them give him some time.
For it can smell bad normally betta fish for it some time but dont fill the tank up with his food because it some time but dont fill the tank up with his food because it can smell bad normally.
he wont eat if his environment is not corect
you said he was in a bowl but what he really needs is a 2.5+ gallon aquarium with a filter and a heater
The pet store and needs time to the reason why your betta wont eat is bit stressed out and ask for some bloodworms they sound trust me it is just like freeze dried bloodworms they arent as gross as.

Either he is stress out, or is a picky eater. Betta’s can go for a few days without food. Take any uneaten food out since he is in a bowl without filtration. You should let him settle in and then try feeding him again. Keep temperatures around 78-80 since they are tropical fish, away from windows and drafts. Good luck with your betta!
