Bettas are extremely slow moving, have long, frilly fins, and really don’t have a good way to hurt another fish short of ramming it. Most all Cichlids (even Rams and Kribs) are very capable of tearing a fish up as they are essentially little wads of muscle with fins.

deffinatly depends on the size, but if they were as similar as possible…………… uhhhhhh……….. beta.
Generally, I’d place my bets on a cichlid.
Cichlid, if full grown, or just big. Don’t do that though- poor beta.
The same size then betta.
The cichild would win. Even if they were the same size, The cichild is way stronger and tougher.

Cichlid, no contest.
