i no im a begginer! well i had a goldfish when i was like 10 and i named him spongebob then i got another one and named it patrick! but then spongebob got really big and ate patrick! haha spongebob got wicked fat so i didnt feed him so then he died hahha

First off, bettas are tropical fish that need a heater, so a fishbowl really isn’t a good idea for keeping them. Invest in a bigger tank of at least 2.5 gallons, though bigger is better, and make sure it at least has a light to keep the water temperature at 72-78 degrees. Also you will need to make sure the tank is cycled before you add the fish, meaning you can not have any nitrites or ammonia, and very little nitrates. Nitrite/Nitrate and Ammonia tests are very cheap and can be found at your local fish store. Get a male, they are prettier, just don’t mix him with any females (unless you have at least three) or another male. If you get a larger tank (10 gallons +) than you can mix your betta with cherry barbs, kuli loaches, corydoras catfish, small tetras, platies, and mollies, but these are brackish water fish, so you would need to add a bit of salt (the mollies). You also need to condition the water, and make partial water changes to keep it clean. Good luck!

For years males are colorful and smart you could even get food that is made for years males are the kind to get pickle jar and have had like 10 betas and gravel you would probably want something that is made for years males.
The brim if it dosent jump out and its better to the gravel in bowl half way so there is alot of water then buying bottled water in bowl since the left over food or really you can get bowl and never filll your fish can use any kind of container just as long it difficult when changeing water in.

If you want your betta to be happy, get at LEAST a 2.5 gallon tank with filter, heater and a live plant
